Anthony Jackson was named March 2016's Employee of the month. He is a Tire Maintenance Worker I and also delivers the mail for Fleet to the Abel Wolman building and all of the substations.

BRIGHT LIGHTS, BRIGHT CITY : NEW CITY HALL DOME LIGHTS WILL SAVE CITY $40,000 PER YEAR

The City Hall dome is undergoing a lighting project which involves switching from 1,000 watt metal halide conventional lighting technology to the LED lights that are only 220 watts per fixture. The annual savings from this project is more than $40,000 and will have a payback of less than 2 years.

Street Vendor Rules and Regulations

The legislation provided for certain rules and regulations to be developed by the Department of General Services to outline operational details of process, standards, licensing, etc… We are posting these rules and regulations on the Street Vendor program and initiating a public comment period of 30 days.

DGS Graduates Second Class Of Future Leaders

The Department of General Services celebrated the 2015 Class’ completion of the DGS Future Leaders program on Thursday, October 29, 2015, in the Baltimore War Memorial. Prior to the completion ceremony the class, in three groups, presented the results of their collaboration on respective capstone projects: Improving Proactive Communication to Customers, Making Full-Cycle Non-Civil Service Recruitment a Leaner Process, and Reducing the Internal Service Procurement Process.

City's Commitment To An Efficient, Modernized Fleet Results In Savings Over $375k

The Baltimore City Department of General Services (DGS), using a data-driven approach to fleet reduction, has completed an effective analysis of the City fleet based on the needs of each City agency. The result of the fleet reduction program is estimated to reduce fleet-related costs to customer agencies by $376,587.50.

City Seeking To Improve Health Access And Opportunities For Vulnerable Citizens With Proposed New Health Center Purchase

The City of Baltimore is in discussions to purchase a new health center located at 1200 E. Fayette Street to replace Eastern Health Center at 620 N. Caroline Street. The new health center would improve resident access to high quality, modern healthcare in a code compliant, more welcoming and healthy environment, with opportunities for expanded services.

City And State Funds Committed To The Phoenix Shot Tower

Baltimore City’s Department of General Services (DGS) is pleased to announce that an ongoing project to revitalize the Phoenix Shot Tower will be supplemented by a $90,000 grant recently awarded by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority to Carroll Museums Inc. The Shot Tower is owned by DGS and leased to Carroll Museums in a public-private partnership. These funds will be matched by $150,000 already appropriated in DGS’s capital budget.

War Memorial Arts Initiative Concert: Folksongs And Voices Of Nature

The latest event in the ongoing War Memorial Arts Initiative concert series will feature an evening of musical color and mystique by Duo Rossignol as they present Folksongs and Voices of Nature. Soprano Hillary LaBonte and flutist Mary Matthews will perform selections from the enchanting works of John Corigliano, Cherise Leiter, Kaija Saariaho, and Hilary Tann at the War Memorial on Thursday August 6th.
