Walbrook Branch of Enoch Pratt Free Library Reopens
Mayor Brandon M. Scott joined Enoch Pratt Library Interim CEO Darcell Graham, City Councilman James Torrence, Chief Recovery Officer Shamiah Kerney, and proud library staff to celebrate the grand reopening of the Pratt Library Walbrook Branch, after it underwent several renovations. The project received support from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), private funders, and the State of Maryland. It is the start of several library refreshes underway across the Enoch Pratt system. Through DGS, the Maryland Energy Administration’s Low and Moderate Income Grant Program provided $27,000 to replace the lighting with LED lighting and to conduct targeted air sealing. An additional $49,000 in utility rebates supported the measures from the EmPower Maryland program (BGE Smart Energy Savers). The energy measures are estimated to save $10,000 a year in energy costs, while contributing to a comfortable and safe place for residents.
The DGS Energy Division works with agencies to identify energy-saving opportunities and find funding to implement them.
