Director Sharkey's Statement to the DGS Staff on the Orlando Shooting

Team,

The horrific event in Orlando this weekend reminds us to stay prepared for any eventuality.  This need for readiness requires that we assert every effort to protect ourselves and the public.  Please ensure that you learn from and apply the principles from the Workplace Violence Trainings that are ongoing as well as the active shooter trainings that many of you have taken. Always be vigilant as you move about the workplace. If you see something of a suspicious nature, please say something to managers, supervisors or, in extreme situations, contact 911 to report any behavior of concern.  Please keep the Orlando victims and their families in your thoughts.

Keep up the good work,

Steve
