During the week of June 6th, DGS Fleet mechanics upgraded their electrical skills at an in-house 2-day training provided by General Motors. The GM - Electrical Systems Overview and Diagnostic Principles course focused on the fundamental laws of electricity, electrical schematic reading, theory of electrical systems diagnosis and digital multi-meter operation. The mechanics covered topics such as voltage, current, resistance, voltage drop, Ohm’s law, circuit faults, operation of automotive electrical components and Strategy Based Diagnostics. They also gained hands-on training which included structured lab exercises using Specialized Electrical Training boards, SI2000, and live vehicles.
