City Rings in Holiday Season with 2019 Mitten/Giving Tree Celebration

On December 5, DGS along with the Department of Public Works and the Department of Transportation, kicked off the season of giving with the annual Mitten/Giving Tree celebration. City workers and guests donated gloves, hats, scarves, bed sheets, and more to help Baltimore City children in need. The event included a visit from Santa Claus and beautiful performances by the Frederick Douglass High School and Dunbar High School marching bands, the Western High School choir, and the Baltimore City Boys and Girls Club choir.

This year’s tree was a Douglas Fir from Pretty Boy Reservoir. DPW Pretty Boy Mount Staff helped to deliver the tree to the Abel Wolman Building in November. DGS Facility Maintenance Crew, led by Marcus Williams, helped the tree get situated in its new home. It has truly gotten us all in the holiday spirit!
